The Peninsula Chicago | Wedding Day | Chicago, Illinois | Jane and Adam

Jane and Adam’s wedding day at The Peninsula Hotel in Chicago was such an amazing celebration to be part of. One, because Chicago happens to be one of my favorite cities! Chicago was the first place I ever traveled to by myself so it holds a very special place in my heart. And, two, because Jane and Adam were such a dream to work with.

I arrived to Chicago a couple of days prior to the wedding day, as I do with all of my destination weddings, to scout possible locations and get acclimated to my surroundings. I watched the weather report for a week leading up to the day and was so thrilled when I woke up the morning of the wedding to see sunny skies in the report. Unfortunately, Chicago’s weather is known for sudden changes in mood and rain immediately began to pour the moment I arrived to Jane and Adam’s hotel room at The Peninsula. All of the locations I had spent so much time scouting would no longer work with this forecast and we were forced to come up with a new plan.

As a wedding photographer, it’s so important to have the ability to have back up plans and make decisions quickly. With the help of my team, we decided to move Jane and Adam’s wedding portraits to Chicago’s gorgeous Union Station. The location provided the perfect coverage overhead to prevent Jane and Adam from getting rained on while making a beautiful space for photos. Once again, what seemed to be a frustrating situation at the time turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Union Station location was so much better than most of the locations I had originally scouted. More than anything, Jane and Adam’s trust in my to decide the best action plan meant the world to me.

The day flowed beautifully from there and the happy couple was all smiles as they shared laughs and hugs with friends and family from all over the country.

Jane wore a stunning gown with a blush underlay by Hayley Paige that featured a sheer, gem encrusted bodice. She seemed to float across the floor as the soft layers of her gown cascaded behind her. Her bridal shoes by Jimmy Choo were the perfect accent to her gown with their silver sparkle finish.

We hopped in a taxi to head to Chicago’s Union Station for couple portraits. The lines and tones of the architecture made the perfect backdrop for photos. As it turns out, “The Windy City” is a great place to capture the perfect epic veil shot! Jane’s bridal bouquet by Flowers for Dreams beautifully complimented the soft pink and white tones in her dress as they posed for photos.

Adam’s father was the amazing, and hilarious, officiant for the couple’s nuptials.

The wedding recessional is one of my favorite moments from any wedding day. I love capturing the pure joy on my couples’ faces as they exit their ceremony officially as husband and wife. Their expressions always seem to say, “WE DID IT!”

With planning and coordination by Jennifer Clarke and her team at The Peninsula Chicago, the ballroom was transformed into this elegant space. The reception area was filled with pinks, whites, and golds which complimented the room beautifully.

This crowd LOVED to DANCE! One of my favorite moments of the day was watching Jane’s mom as she was lifted for the Hora. She threw her arms up and had the biggest smile on her face. I couldn’t help but smile too at the sight of her enjoying the party so much.
