Angela and Alex | Bodega Bay Engagement Session

Alex and Angela’s Bodega Bay Engagement Session was something straight out of Pride and Prejudice. For those of you who have ever seen the movie, you will forever be changed by the epic scene where Keira Knightley stands like an angel, overlooking the expanse of the valley below while the wind whips through her petticoats. All the while, an unforgettable score makes the scene even more incredible. Basically, that scene changed me forever and can be found in many of the things I shoot. So naturally, this wind swept location was the perfect spot for me to live out my Jane Austen dreams.

I knew I wanted Angela to wear something that would photograph beautifully in the active winds of Bodega Bay. There is nothing more magical than capturing the movement of light and delicate fabrics. I love the way the soft blue tones of her dress seem to blend seamlessly with the ocean landscape.

I was so in love with Angela’s stunning oval solitaire engagement ring. I had to give her ring its own moment in front of the camera.

For our next location, we drove down to Salmon Creek Beach for some romantic shots in the sand. I wanted the moment to feel like they had just been on a dinner date and decided to take a spontaneous walk along the beach. The sky quickly turned a soft shade of pink as the sun faded along the horizon.

Some of my favorite shots from every shoot are always right before we lose light. There’s something about the final glow of natural sunlight that creates the dreamy images of love that I always strive for.

Angela and Alex will be getting married at Hummingbird Nest Ranch this September. I cannot wait to capture their wedding day which will be coordinated by Wheat and Honey Events.
