Lauren and Brad | Santa Clarita Engagement Session

One of the aspects I love about my job is getting to work with couples like Lauren and Brad. Feeling connected to my couples is so important to me because I believe it helps me capture them in a more natural and meaningful way. These two made it clear they trusted my vision from the beginning and that truly makes such a difference in the experience, both for them as the client and for myself as their storyteller. When I decide to work with my couples I make it very clear that it is a collaborative process of trust and communication. I always work really hard to give constant direction so my couples feel comfortable and relaxed. This allows me to capture moments that feel natural. Lauren and Brad did such an amazing job of being vulnerable in front of my camera and connecting with each other with an open heart. Most of all, they clearly had a lot of fun being playful and carefree for my lens.

Lauren wore a sheer, pastel pink skirt from Morning Lavender for the first look at the Session. As a natural light photographer, I always recommend dresses that flow and catch movement and light well. This was the perfect selection to achieve that. Sheer, light fabrics are always the best way to go for your session. It’s also best to choose wardrobe that is form fitting and shows off your figure.

We were able to capture some gorgeous, magic hour light coming down through the trees at our Engagement Session location in Santa Clarita, CA. Trees have the potential to add so much depth and character to an image. I absolutely love capturing the gnarled branches of an epic oak tree in my work! The beauty of nature adds so much!

Brad and Lauren are a pretty relaxed couple so they decided to go for a more casual look for their second outfits. The Earth tones in their wardrobe were perfectly consistent with the colors of the surrounding background. The location you chose is definitely something to consider when selecting your outfits!

I love how intimate the close up kissing shots of them feel. A great image is full of little subtleties… how gently he pulls her in, how she smiles as he embraces her, the way he leans in to whisper in her ear…these are all tiny moments I strive to capture at an Engagement Session.
